Valencia CF show support for AECC and cancer treatment equality manifesto
This past Thursday, February 4th, was World Cancer Day, and VCF MEDIA Radio took the opportunity to chat at length with Tomás Trénor, president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) in Valencia, about the importance of giving visibility to this type of disease, and to achieving a social consensus in order to support both patients and research.
“The fight against cancer is an every day battle. Cancer is a social health problem of the first degree; it is a disease that requires the consensus of society as a whole. We are proposing that this agreement against cancer, the consensus of all Spanish citizens, is something so important that it deserves a joint agreement. That is why we have launched a manifesto of equality in the fight against cancer, in terms of the scope of research, of treatment and of early diagnosis, so that everyone can join together," said Trénor.
“We are going to see if we are capable of making this social consensus manifest itself in concrete measures to support research and patients. Prestigious social institutions of great social importance, such as Valencia CF, are very important in this pressure that society has to assume in order to contribute to giving visibility to the agreement. We are very satisfied that Valencia CF have chosen to collaborate and contribute to this social, humanitarian work to fight against cancer. Many cancer patients are grateful that institutions like Valencia CF are committed to this social consensus."
